The Turtles - Happy Together

Because I’m a sucker for sixties’ pop. This song has a really wonderful melody in the chorus; it’s unmistakable. However, Happy Together was recently used on a terrible television advert where a man is chasing after all these helium balloons, but really casually, and all of the balloons have different TV channels and programs on them and he grabs them all, down high riser steps, on the bus, around a public pond. I’m making it sound so much better than it was and I even know why I hated it so much. Maybe because they used such a happy and uplifting (balloon reference, I see ya) song for such a mundane advert. EITHER WAY, I still bloody love this song.

I can’t see me loving nobody but you for all my life.

Ten years later what the fuck has changed? Got a little less heart and a little more brain, got a little less spirit and a little less faith, got a little less pride and a lot more hate. And all the things you said you’d never regret have become the things that you can’t forget, he lost his way when he lost his flame, and ten years later what the fuck has changed? Don’t let it end like this.

Inspire, Admire: Number 5; She Needs To Wake Up.

beyourself-benooneelse:

She can’t even feel pretty when the lights are all down.
As the anchors pull her down to drown, drown, drown.
Kill her now you rotten waves.
This will make you feel no shame.
You are helping others by hiding the ugly face.
Of the girl in the mirror not looking at that space.
She doesn’t want to…

With practice, we can sharpen our eyes and ears of wisdom, so that we will recognize truth when we see it or hear it. But this kind of looking and listening is an art we must learn.
